Week 13

Title : Multimeter

Objectives : to find a suitable multimeter to attach to the board

Contents : for my project, i have to display the value for current or voltage that i get from the moving of magnet inside the solenoid.. therefore, i had walk around Jalan Pasar to find that multimeter.. it is difficult for me to use existing multimeter that is huge and heavy..

Results : after taking some consideration from friends, i decided to buy digital multimeter that can display the voltage that i get from the movement of magnet inside the solenoid..

this multimeter i bought for about RM25.00.. this multimeter can vary from 200mV to 200V.. it is suitable for me because my output voltage depends on the power of wind.. if my output voltage during presentation is low, so i can vary the setting for my multimeter at 200mV..

Conclusion : this multimeter need external supply of 5V.. therefore, i have to buy at least a battery to make this happen.. but in my mind, i would like to use an adapter to power it up.. so, i have to go now and buy.. see u soon...

Week 12

Title : Solenoid Part 2

Objectives : to buy the iron core and make it become solenoid

Contents : after doing some research last week, i had decided to use 2nd hand iron core that i get from unused transformer.. the thickness of the iron core is quite small and related with what i want to use.. therefore, i had make some adjustment to the transformer..

Results : the transformer is from parts of personal computer.. below is the pictures of the iron core that i had been used..

after pull out the iron core from the transformers, this is the results..

Conclusion : this iron core i will used for the rest of the project.. i hope that this project will succeed..

Week 11

Title : Solenoid Part 1

Objectives : to specify the thickness and number of turns of solenoid around magnet

Contents : A solenoid is a coil wound into a tightly packed helix. In physics, the term solenoid refers to a long, thin loop of wire, often wrapped around a metallic core, which produces a magnetic field when an electric current is passed through it. Solenoids are important because they can create controlled magnetic fields and can be used as electromagnets. The term solenoid refers specifically to a coil designed to produce a uniform magnetic field in a volume of space

Results :

the solenoid that i wish to use must have greater number of turns.  therefore, the electricity produce will be higher, based on the hypothesis that is the higher the number of turns, the greater the electricity produced.

Conclusion : solenoid plays important roles in designing the project that i want to be done by the end of semester 7.. so, i need to make it precisely and any important information must be take consideration.

Week 10

Title : Magnet Research Part 2

Objectives : To buy the magnet

Contents : after doing some research about magnet that i would like to used, i found the best magnet, that is cylindrical form magnet, which can be found in http://www.onemagnet.com.my/pro_ndfeb.html.

Results : the shape and design of the magnet are as follows..

each of this magnet cost me about RM25.. so, i had spent about RM75 only at buying this kind of stuff..

Conclusion : this magnet i will use for the rest of my project. i hope that i had bought the right magnet, aminn...

Week 9

Title : Magnet Research Part 1

Objectives : To classify the best magnet to be used

Contents : this week i need to choose what type of magnet that suit with my project. there are several types of magnet that can be find in the world such as permanent magnet, temporary magnet and electromagnet. in this project, i used a permanent magnet and there are four classes of permanent magnets such as Neodymium Iron Boron (NdFeB), Samarium Cobalt (SmCo), Alnico and Ceramic or Ferrite.

Results :

In order to make this project successful, magnet is the most important item that needs to be considered. The points that need to be considered in magnet selection are:

i. Magnetic properties.
ii. Corrosion resistance.
iii. Material cost.
iv. Maximum operating temperature.

A good permanent magnet should produce a high magnetic field with a low mass and should be stable against the influences which would demagnetize it. The desirable properties of such magnet are typically stated in terms of remanence and coercive of the magnet material. Alnico, Nd2Fe14B and SmCo magnet are classified as the rare earth permanent magnets and can produce the largest magnetic flux with the smallest mass.

Conclusion : i have to buy the magnet next week.. see u soon...

Week 8

Title : Past Project

Objectives : To study past project and relate it with my project

Contents : i had done some research regarding my title that is Development of Renewable Energy using Wind, and i had found one project that look similar to mine.. the title is Design and Development of Green Electricity, http://ebookbrowse.com/s-03-2-design-and-development-of-green-electricity-pdf-d93043473..

Results : as we can see from the website, he tell us about how he design a wave generated solenoid to be used as a supply.. i got the idea from that.. just imagine if we can convert the system that he had been discovered to be used on the sea wave, and put it at all time wind that had at any moments.. we surely can generated electricity although there is a little wind that had been blown up.. so i need to design a solenoid that look alike like what he had done but in a tiny small design.. that might be difficult for me but i will try my best to make it possible..

Conclusion : everything in this world is possible to be done.. so what we need is just a patience and a hard work to make it reality.. pray for me buddy.. if this come true, everyone in this world will get benefit from it.. yeah....

Week 7

Title : FYP Presentation

Objectives : To prepare a slide show based on Development of Renewable Energy Using Wind

Contents : On 12th April 2012, we had been undergo Final Year Project's presentation at Dewan Gemilang UniKL BMI.. There is 5 places for the student to present their slideshow.. there is at Dewan Gemilang, Foyer TTL, Level 1, 2 and 3.. i had been given to present at Dewan Gemilang.. my assessor are AAA and ZBZ that is Sir Azman Abd Aziz and Mdm Zabariah Bte Zakaria.. both of them came at the same time.. they asked me a lot of questions regarding my Final Year Project that is Development of Renewable Energy Using Wind.. and I had answered them clearly and they understood what is my project about..
Results :

Conclusion : now, i need to wait for the result to come out.. i hope that i got a good result from both of them..
